I Have A Strange Pet Who Adopted Me.....FREE is her name

  Last summer i found a small land snail who appeared in my kitchen sink.  I put her in a lid from a jar and she hung out. So I looked up food for snails. I put her in a little larger lid and she slept in a water bottle cap.

  I named her Free cus she is free to come and go but chooses to stay with me. She has been sleeping for the past 3 months and sometimes I thought she died, but is wide awake and crawling around her home that grew while she was asleep.

    She loves hanging onto the limestone as she gets her calcium from that and egg shells. She loves brocolli,  and lettuce is her main food and water . She also has a mudbath lid where she also likes to play in.

  I will be taking some pictures of her and posting them soon.  Never realized how cool snails are. She is the only

snail i've seen around here in the house or out. They say they are hermorphrodites and if I put another snail with her they'd have babies. I wonder if that is one or both? LO

After I posted this, Free went back to sleep for another ten days and is just waking up again.

 

Think I am going to have to find a small aquarium or something. It' strange as there is no lid on her house

and she never crawls out on the counter. She'll hang on the outside of the aluminum pan but  she doesn't leave.  Free lives up to her name.

I thought about that. I may have to find a couple others for breeding. I could start a snail farm and sell pet snails. LO THink I will write a kid's story Me and Free and we ride the bike everywhere and of course Free will have to wear a flight cap and goggles. I can see her now. LO

Hey Dee, I think she is sucking in the calcium cus she's not really eating, but hanging on the rock. She should be going full speed LO I hope in a few days. She's been sleeping I guess since October.

She loves her limestone rocks. I should find some chalk as they are supposed to get calcium from that too.

Thanks for reading Dee.  I thought she had died a few times, but she hangs out in her  8 x 8 aluminum baking tray with some rocks, a water cap, a mudbath food and water, oh yeah she loves to hide under leaves. I will have to get some good close ups and post them. They are truly amazing little creatures and her eyes. OMG!

lol what a trip... say hello to free for me.... Please dont go pushing another snail on her.... she might leave ya... I think she is staying cause she is FREE! LOL
